Care and Maintenance of Oiled Floors

Touchwood Flooring has all the maintenance products you need, from mops and spray cleaners to concentrates and felt tacs, for looking after your new oiled hardwood floors.

Cleaning

  • Limit the amount of water used on wood flooring products; periodically, the floor can be cleaned with a well-wrung mop and a neutral, mild detergent. Mop water should dry on the floor within one minute.
  • We recommend vacuuming to control dust and prevent grit from embedding into the surface.
  • A spill will not stain or mark your floor if it is immediately wiped up with a soft, absorbent cloth.

Precautionary Measures

  • Keep a doormat both outside and inside entrance doors to remove dirt and gravel from shoes.
  • Fit furniture legs with felt pads to avoid unnecessary marks and scratches.
  • Use castor cups where applicable.
  • Immediately clean up spills with a clean, soft cloth; never allow water or other liquids to lie on the floor.

Maintenance

  • Routine maintenance is recommended bi-annually.
  • High traffic floors and floors that receive frequent wet-cleaning require a custom maintenance schedule. One of our team members will outline the most optimal maintenance schedule for your floors.
